Introduction Letter – New Book Title

Introduction letters are written for numerous business and personal situations. This sample introduction letter was written for a typical business-to-business situation in which one company is introducing a new product to another company with the hope that the receiving company will order it. In this case, a sample of the product was included with the letter. A follow-up phone call or e-mail is often required a week or so after the original letter is sent.

Dear Ms. Gonzalez:
A Different Kind of Internet Book!
I am writing to you because your company has been recommended as one of the top book distributors in the United States for moving books into the traditional book buying market. We believe that we have a unique product for those stores and therefore, before going to reprint, I would like to check with you to see if you are interested in ordering a quantity on consignment for sale in the stores of your clients.

Enclosed for your review, is a copy of Internet Basics without fear! Quick-Start Guide for Becoming Internet-Friendly In Just a Few Easy Steps. With it, you will find a promotional brochure and a couple of recent reviews. As the information states, this is an Internet book with a big difference. Rather than the typical 300 plus page tekkie-type manuals that proliferate the market these days (“Dummies” books included!), it is a 100+ page people-friendly book, designed to help ordinary people become familiar with, and get connected to the Net.

The cover tells the whole story in a snapshot and was designed to quickly attract the attention of its intended target audience. As you can see, it has a very colorful and catchy design with a clear message that is perfect for attracting potential buyers. And of course as you are most surely aware, the subject of the Internet is a very hot one these days! I have no doubt that such a basic people-friendly book would appeal to many shoppers if strategically placed in the stores of your clients. In addition to personal use, this book could also be purchased as a gift for family, friends and relatives. The low price point of $14.95 makes it an attractive impulse and/or gift buy.

Our research to-date has indicated that there is a sizable niche market out there for a book just like this. Early market tests have confirmed this. People seem to be thrilled with the idea of such a basic user-friendly approach to help them get onto the Net. The book is written in clear, concise English, with a minimum of technical jargon. It also takes a human approach by discussing and dealing with the “fear of technology” issue before plunging into the “how-to” part.

Remember, between 50% and 60% of the North American market are not yet online and many are now clamoring to get connected. This book is the vehicle to help the ordinary person get there.

Thank you for your consideration and we look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Robert Christian
Marketing Manager

Book Writing Format

My online research indicates that there are a lot of people searching for information on the subject “book writing format”.

At least that’s the search phrase they are using when they do their online searches. However, it is not clear to me exactly what these folks are looking for? In fact, I’m not even sure if they know exactly what they are searching for.

For example, are they looking for some kind of a book layout template? Or, do they want to know what dimensions to make their book? Or, are they looking for some kind of formula for writing a book?

So, if you are in that same quandary, what I will do below is to briefly address all three of these possibilities.

Book Writing Formats – Size and/or Dimensions

There are many possible sizes that are used for various types of books. The best way to explain this is to show you the actual sizes and dimensions that my print on demand printer/distributor currently offers.

Paperback Book Sizes:

Book Writing Format - Paperback

Hard Cover Book Sizes:

Book Writing Format - Hard Cover

Color Book Sizes:

Book Writing Format - Color Book

As you can see from the above, there are many different sizes available for formatting a book. Of course, the above are the types and dimensions available through the book printer/distributor that I use. I’m sure that other such companies will have their own lists of available book format sizes. Nevertheless, the one that I use is perhaps the largest print-on-demand (POD) printer/distributor in operation, so its book types and sizes are a worthy example of what is possible.

Book Writing Formats – Writing and Publishing A Book Rather than dimensions and sizes, some people searching for “book writing format” are likely looking for general info on how to write, publish market and distribute a book or ebook. These people want to know how to create their book and get it “out there”. If you are one of those folks, you will want to check out my ebook/book on this very subject:

You Too Can Write A “How-To” Book

Are you aware that “how-to” books are among the “easiest” books to write? Yes, that’s right, they really are! After all, how hard can it be to write about something you already know really well, something that you are passionate about? Heck, you may not even need to do any research! What other kind of author has that luxury?

As I say in my ebook on the subject, I am a firm believer that 99% of people who have specific knowledge of ANY subject, coupled with a passion to share that knowledge with others, are natural how-to authors.

In fact, as I state in the Introduction to my book…

“If you can organize your thoughts enough to explain something to someone, and then write that down in simple step-by-step terms, you too can be a how-to author.”

That’s right. How-to books can be written by anyone who is capable of writing down what they are “speaking” as they explain to someone all about something that is near and dear to their heart.

It really is that simple. And the beauty of writing how-to books is that you already have the knowledge inside of you!

Most how-to books are written by “experts” in a particular subject. The cool part about this is that each and every one of us is an expert in some, or many areas! And that includes you!

Yes, YOU ARE An Expert…
Really, you are! You possess a unique combination of knowledge and valuable life experience that no one else on this planet possesses. In fact, you are the only one truly qualified to write about your knowledge and experience from your own unique perspective.

And that last phrase – “from your own unique perspective” – is a very important one. It’s important because “how-to” books are all about people sharing their individual unique take on something. And it really doesn’t matter what that something is.

Think about it. What are your big interests and/or activities in life? What’s your favorite hobby, or your preferred sport or leisure activity. What do you excel in at the office? What books and magazines do you seek out? What subjects are guaranteed to grab your attention in any situation, or when depicted in the media? What are you good at – at work and/or at play? On what subjects do friends, family members, and co-workers constantly seek your advice and/or expertise? Do you have valuable life experience to bring to the table?

Now that you’ve thought about it, I bet you’re beginning to realize that you are indeed an “expert” on numerous subjects – aren’t you? Seriously, whether you’re an avid gardener, a fanatical sports fan, an obsessed collector of “stuff”, a jazz pianist, a weekend carpenter, or a card maker; it doesn’t matter what your subject. YOU ARE AN EXPERT at those things that you love and are good at doing.

VLE Does Count!
Whatever you do, make sure you don’t discount your own personal “valuable life experience”. In fact, VLE is the basis for almost All self-help books. After all, what are self-help books except “how-to” books about how to live life. And in these days of Oprah, Dr. Phil, Chicken Soup Books, and Reality TV, I don’t have to tell you how marketable VLE is!

In fact, it was Oprah who said you can “Turn your wounds into words”.

Don’t Underestimate Yourself…
Remember, YOU DO NOT have to be the world’s foremost authority on your particular subject(s). As long as you have a keen interest in your topic and have acquired an above average knowledge of it, you are in a position to write about it from your own unique perspective.

Believe me, there are thousands of people out there ready and waiting to hear from people just like you who offer new knowledge and fresh perspectives on your shared special area of interest.

All you need to be able to do is write down what would naturally come out of your mouth if you were explaining your favorite subject to a friend, colleague, or family member.

Bottom line? Don’t sell yourself short.

A few years ago I didn’t even know what a “how-to book” was. Now I’ve written 15 of them. Really!

I’m willing to bet that you too have more “how-to” books in you than you ever imagined.
