The complaint letter below was sent from a condo maintenance company on behalf of the board of directors of a condominium association. The purpose of this particular letter was to advise the elevator maintenance contractor that the service being received under the existing maintenance contract was unacceptable. The letter makes it clear that if service doesn’t improve immediately, the contract will be cancelled in accordance with the cancellation clause in the maintenance contract.

Business Letter Format
It goes without saying that if one wants to gain/maintain credibility in business, they must format their business letters professionally. Any old format will not do.
When I did my research into business letter formats for my Instant Business Letter Kit I discovered at least a dozen different recommended letter styles. Of course some of those were very similar, but there were sufficient dissimilarities to make them appear somewhat different.
I also learned during my research that some texts and websites called what appeared to be the same letter format, different names. Extremely confusing, to say the least. So, for my letter series of writing kits I have reduced those dozen formats down to a list five, as follows:
Business letter formats include: basic-block style, semi-block style, full-block format, square-block style, and simplified letter format.
Although my Instant Business Letter Kit includes fully-formatted examples of all five (5) of those letter formats, I am only going to present one here – the Full-Block style or format.
Here is the full-block style letter format as presented in my writing kit:
